For that, you will be spending over $1000 for sure. Now things should break even between HP and Dell on the higher end PC.

That laptop is outdated by at least a year. You'll be spending more to upgrade, than rather getting a new one. Dell XPS would be more fitting for your needs, but its pricey.

I definitely recommend getting a dual core, they are very affordable nowadays. They will rip through most tasks with no problems.

just to let you know, if your going back to windows xp you need drivers. which HP won't have. So you'll have issues with your laptop. It may work but you might not have full funtion of the laptop. correct me if i'm wrong guys

Well I have an upgrade Dell Latitude D800 for 450, I just got it a couple of hours ago. And the upgrade is nice so i'm not complaining. I have everything I need, great software already downloaded, a lil more than 1 gig memory, 60 gig hard drive, wireless network card, da combo cd/dvd drive. I just don't have the intel core 2 duo cpu. So was this a good deal or not?
