computer section upgrade?

i was thinking that the computer section on the forum is rather limited, an idea i had drawn up is like this:

scrap the hardware, and make 2 sub-sections, amd and intel, and in each section, split it up into mobo, graphics, ram, processor, hard drive, case, PSU, and other...

also have an other section aswell as amd and intel, just incase anything crops up that doesnt fall into either...

so the computer section isn't limited, the hardware section is:
Operating Systems, Applications, Audio, Video, Gaming, & Mac's, & Hardware.

So are you saying restructure the entire section?

Personally at the moment I think it's ok as is... that way if someone has a problem /question etc then it's more likely that people will see it, rather than having to look through many many forums.. just my opinion though.

so how about this...do a complete layout of what you think it should be and we'll all go from there...just post it here as it would look in the forums and we'll see what we can come up with.

P.S. Like I said before, it is incomplete but I just havn't had time to address it...I'll make time now though.

Well, having it branch down can be a hassle, like this.
Hardware
-Motherboard
--AMD
--Intel
-Graphic Cards
--Nvidia
--Ati
-Harddrives
--Maxtor
--Seagate
--Hitachi

and so on, just having it hardware is best. People could label the topic, [AMD].... ect to get specific help.

ok, that is a good idea but here's the thing. We're not big yet. I wish we had people coming here with problems (in such large amounts) that they new we had a hdd section by brand name, etc. but we don't. Now as we grow, categories will too.

How about this: we add the major components to the hardware section and leave the rest as is. That way the click on Hardware (for example) and see:
Hard Drive
Motherboard
Video Card
and whatever other major components we add, the for all not listed we just created an other category.

We waant browsing to be simple for our people...and I think getting too detailed will confuse them more on where to post rather than posting quick to get a problem.

For example: Take a guy/girl that is clueless about his computer.
It's a stock computer that they bought from BestBuy. They are having hard rive issues but in order for them to post, they need to find out the brand of their hdd. They don't know how via their interface nor do they know how to ope their PC. Now they've gotta post on how to find the hdd make/model..get that answer...then make a post saying "My hdd clicks, what does that mean".

Personally, I think that's too much work for someone that might be a newbie at PC's. We gotta make things user friendly here. Having a category that says Hard Drives: listed under Computers is about as simple as it gets IMO.
