here is some info to help
OS = XP Pro SP2
Mobo = MSI 975X PLatinum Power Up Ed. V2 (latest BIOS)

RAM = Crucial 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Running a stock fan that came with the CPU which is an E6400 Conroe
Although CPU-Z reports it as an Allendale?
Ram was set from 1.8V to 2.1V
CPU at 1.31 (think it was 2.13 to start)
FSB from 267 to 310

any help would be great. I am runny 3GB of ram currently but have another 1GB i can slap in there, The case has two stock 120MM fans, one front and one back. I want to to be stable so i am not looking to get the most i can, just the most i can without blowing it up, LOL

Good chances the board wont blow out. If you overclock alot, it will just boot a black screen, or just post an error. But it all depends on the board mainly. Increase the bus speed by 5 is the best option. But other times you can go backwards, like high to low. (400 and downward)

ok, you sort of lost me there Kam. So you mean set the FSB from 310 to 315?How about the other settings i have?

Yeh, You dont really have to increase any other settings besides vcore or nb voltage. But at that range "300-325" stock voltage should be fine. The thing about overclocking, is alot of time you have to figure it out yourself, cause finding someone with the same "exact" hardware spec as you is slim. Meaning someone with same ram, same, cpu, same mobo. With same bios.

Im not to sure what options MSI boards give when OCing, but they should have a setting for voltage control, memory timing, and of course fsb control.

I have followed peoples OC settings and it did not serve me well, example is not booting up, bsod windows, etc. You can use other people OC settings as a guide, most likely it wont work, but just lower the fsb clock, and it should work at some point.

If all fails, just reset the bios jumpers, or remove the bios battery to reset the bios and start from square one.

Ok, i am going ti try setting the RAM voltage and CPU back to stock settings and ramping up the FSB to 325 to see what happens tonight,

Well, so far so good. I played Tiger Woodlast night for 4 games without a probelm so it may have been the memory voltage that caused the glitches. My next step is the put the other 1GB memory stick back in and see how stable it is.

had this board, its not the best in the world, but here's my advice:

put the voltage upto 1.475
then keep increasing the FSB or whatever you call it up, until you reach a point where it doesnt boot, reset the cmos
then put it back upto 1.475
and just below the black screen boot
and boot in
do a Super PI 32m test
then if its stable, voila
if not, reboot, voltage back up, and try a bit lower...

thats how i got my overclock of 3.2 from my E6600 when i had it, back, yonks ago...
