South Carolina vs. Craigslist

Despite Craigslist's decision to close Erotic Listings, South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster has decided that he's still moving forward with a criminal investigation. Craigslist is unsurprisingly unhappy with this development, pointing out a number of other websites advertising similar services that McMaster appears to be ignoring.

The South Carolina attorney general still doesn't get the message over Craigslist's Erotic Services, and Craigslist is pointing out his hypocrisy. Over the weekend, AG Henry McMaster released a statement announcing that he was moving forward with a criminal investigation of Craigslist for continuing to display "advertisements for prostitution and graphic pornographic material." This came despite Craigslist's recent decision to close Erotic Services and create a new, significantly more moderated adult section of the site. This, combined with the fact that there are far more other SC prostitution listings on other sites, suggests that McMaster is more about show than actually cracking down on prostitution.
