I am trying to install Linux, specifically OpenSUSE 10.2 PPC, on to my Power Mac G4, but cannot get it to boot to the CD. Am I missing something with Mac boot disks? It loads fine on a pc, just not on my mac.
I have already tried "C" and "CMD+Option+Shft+Del" on reboot to no avail... Please no questions about why I'm doing this...there is a method to my madness! |

Well...4 discs in and no luck!
![]() Have tried using BootX, but that doesn't work, tried both a CD and DVD boot disc to no avail, and even tried booting yaboot from the open firmware line on my mac. I'm starting to run out of ideas.... |

3 straight posts ftw!
Well, after 9 discs and numerous discussions with Linux and Mac "guru's", we came to the conclusion that my disc image was corrupt! Took a while, but at least I now have openSUSE 10.2 installing on my Power Mac G4.....phew ![]() My new Linux motto: If at first it doesn't boot, check the MD5 hash. That'll tell the whole story.... |
