@LS - TV is a Digimate LTV 3203H specs here
the specs say that it's only 1080i... but you can force it to 1080p output on the PS3 and xbox360, plus I also do that on my PC DVI->HDMI output too ![]() very good for the money @ around $560 now. @kam - I actually prefer using my PC -> HDMI for watching stuff now, it means that I don't have to tie up another device like xbox,ps3 or whatever just to watch something... plus with the GPU I have it upscales to 720/1080p very very well... I even do it with much smaller .flv files sometimes, but obviously it's not great when trying to upscale something around 200x120 to 1920x1080, LOL ![]() [edit] BTW - thanks for the nice comments... it's not the best setup in the world, but for the money I spent it's very good for me anyway ![]() I'm still working on maybe getting a surround system in the future, but want wireless setup... had a good surround system in the past, but don't like having the wires everywhere so got rid of it ![]()

Looks nice man. That's about what mine would be if it was 32'' instead of 26''. This is mine: Sanyo 26" LCD HDTV with Digital Tuner, DP26647 - Wal-Mart
Where else but Wal-Mart can you get full replacement for 2 years at $30? I coulda got bigger, cheaper ones online, but they all had a manufacturer's warranty. I'm not sinking $500 into something and not having a full replacement available to me. No parts and labor warranty's cover screen damage with LCD's any way. Yours looks nice, very similar to some of the Olevia 32'' LCD's I was checking out. For an enclosed room, there is no reason to go over 32''. It makes a world of difference going from CRT to HD for gaming, just no way to put in words. For my price range, it was Olevia, Sanyo, or Vizio. Vizios seem like the biggest pieces of crap TV's on the face of the Earth. Some of the Olevia's I looked at were very nice, but a bit out of my price range. Sanyo is second tier, but I'm very happy with mine overall. If you have the money, Sony or Samsung is the way to go.

Newer Sony's are pretty nice, especially the Bravia's. With a $1000 price range, I probably would go for a 40'' Samsung LCD or an equivalent dollar value Samsung DLP TV. The Samsung's I have checked out and researched are very nice. I can see the difference in picture quality between the Samsung and other LCD's side by side at Wal-Mart, I think they justify the price tag for someone with a large budget. For low-budget, Westinghouse and Olevia are decent. Vizio's are actually rated highly on walmart.com, but I don't put too much stock in that, most of the reviewers seem to have little or no tech knowledge. Guys I've talked in stores say Vizio's are crap. A lot of the online reviews I've read of Vizio are decent, so I'm not sure what to believe.

If I had the money I would most likely just go for a massive LCD TV.. or maybe a projector even because I have the wall space for it, but would have to go for all the other stuff to go with it like surround system etc - but maybe later this year or next year I will upgrade to a 42" or bigger LCD and then use this 32" TV as a monitor/second TV until I can afford that kind of setup.
I know what you mean about getting differing views from people about TVs - I guess in one way it's perspective depending on what budget someone has and whether they've had a LCD TV before etc.. I think a lot of people just go for the name though. You only have to look at the fact that some TVs etc are just re-badged and sold under a different brand, but some people rate them highly and others hate them. I am a bit biased against sony though I guess.... they just seem overpriced to me. I think samsung are a good make for most things, have had a TV or 2 from them, digital camera, and currently have a laser printer from them too. Phillips is another brand of TV that I like, along with LG and toshiba. Hannspree is a good budget range TV.

Never heard of Hannspree. Are they a UK/EU company only? Most of the tech reviews I've seen online are very biased against budget TV's. They seem to forget the average American household pulls in about $40,000-$60,000 per year, and most people don't have $1,000+ to spend on a HDTV. I suppose from a raw specs standpoint, professional calibration experts are going to be drawn to high end brands like Sony, Samsung, and LG. I feel they should be a little more sensitive to the financial constraints placed on a middle class family looking to break into the HD market. Reviews of second tier brands I've read are usually limited to second tier X brand sucks, buy a Samsung or Sony. That's not practical given that the middle class comprises the largest portion of the U.S. populous.

That's weird... in the US they seem to do mostly novelty TVs
Amazon.com: hannspree In the UK we have this sort of thing Amazon.co.uk: Hannspree YT08-37E1 - 37" Widescreen HD Ready 1080i LCD TV - With HDMI Input: Electronics & Photo: HANNSPREE Hannspree Xv JT02-37E2-000G 37" HD Ready LCD TV Black 1366x768 1200:1 500cd/m2 8ms HDMIx2 16:9 - Ebuyer Yeah, over here the average income (so the government says) is around £25000 (approx $50000), but in most cases working class people (factory jobs, office workers etc) earn between £12000 - £20000 only (approx 24000-40000) so with the cost of living being high here also, it's unrealistic to think a lot of people can afford to buy a £1000 TV just like that. Although, saying that - if people are wise with their money it could be affordable assuming that the TV lasts for approx 5-10 years at least and that it's a family with 2 people working etc. Anyway, we got slightly off topic here.. I apologise for that. Come on people show us your gaming setups!!!

You get 37'' LCD HDTV's, we get commemorative ALF 15'' screens with optional methlab attachment. That sounds about right for U.S. foreign policy.
