Hey guys i'm thinking of building a new comp mostly for gaming but really have no idea of how to go about it.....lol, i've been on scorptec (via a mate) just to have a bit of a look but i mean i've got no idea so some help would be hot! i'm looking to spend about $1500 AUS (roughly $1300 US)
(a guide would be that i want to play something as good as crysis)

Its quite simple to build a PC for Crysis.

Need about something at 2.8-3.2Ghz, a good video card "nvidia 8800 series" or "ATI 3700 series" and 2gb of ram.

Well the short answer is AMD used to be better for gaming because it had higher peak power. Intel is better for multi-tasking. Nowadays, Intel has surpassed AMD in the processor wars for sure.

I can go super in-depth, but i'd be talking to myself.

What I can recommend are these parts.

Intel E6600 or Intel E6850 - CPU
Asus P35 - Motherboard
2GB Corsairs or OCZ - Ram
EVGA or XFX 8800GT - Video Card
500+ Watt PSU - Must have a 6 pin video card power connector.
Mid Tower Case
DVD Burner
Zalman or CoolMaster Fan thats for the CPU type, or use Stock "Your choice"

Thats about $900-$1100.

All those stuff I listed can be found on newegg, or tigerdirect or ebay. Pricing may vary differently.
