hey guys, i have another question, can an Operating system *Chough* vista *chough* say there is a bad block on your hard drive but not be able to fix it, and a program that runs on vista do the same thing. because since i formated the computer, its been running fine

Well, it depends. I have had a few harddrives with bad blocks, and sometimes its fixable with a format. Other times, you cant fix it with a format, but you will have to use the harddrive software.

Fujitsu (Erase, 33 KB)
Maxtor
Quantum
Samsung (Clearhdd.exe, 11 KB)
Seagate (Sgatfmt4)
Western Digital (dlgdiag.exe, 192 KB)

Bad blocks are usually mis-prints on the harddrive. Other times, the more serious ones are when the magnet strips are bad.

i've tried that, it was WD, i formated and it seems to run fine. but i guess only time will tell, i've ran the DLGDIAG from WD 2 times since the format and it hasn't found anything

If it went bad, and it went good. There is a good chance that it will go bad again.

Yeh, that can happen cause of a bad magnet strip. I would kinda worry, if I was you. Cause it may be fine now, then next time you turn on the PC, you might see a error, like missing file or something.
