Codec Packs

Heres a list of Codec packs which are very useful.

Cole2K
http://www.cole2k.net/

K-Lite
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm

The easiest is Cole2k, and I also use that. I will update this, when I come across some more.

Nice post Kam, I prefer codec packs, saves me the trouble of tracking them down manually. K-lite works great for encoding/playback.

I might have to try JetAudio. I've been less than impressed with VLC player. It doesn't allow me to preview video downloads with Limewire, where as Zoom Player and Media Player Classic did fine. It also won't play dv avi files and has issues sometimes with other files. It does allow me to preview BitTorrent downloads. LW previews are important, half the time you end up downloading porn when you don't mean to. People will mislabel something intentionally to get you to download it.

I personally love jetaudio, it even places shorcuts in the mouse menu.. so if say you're browsing your music folders for some reason and you think "hmm, i'd like to listen to that album" you don't ave to open up jetaudio, browse to the folder etc.. there's an option called jetaudio under your mouse right click menu that expands to say "play folder" etc.. simple as that

I think media player classic is the best media player personally that you can get on windows xp. It just allows you to watch every single movie clip that I have tried on it, even mkv (or matroska). Recently, VLC hasn't been that good to me and whenever I load a movie file, it appears blank and nothing appears. This was really annoying me, so I just went back to media player classic. Also, best of all, media player classic is so small in storage space and RAM usage.
