Creating AVI with subs

Ok, I have been trying to do this all morning.. here's the problem.

DL'ed an AVI movie that also has some subtitle files with it... I used submux to join the files so that the AVI plays on windows media player with the subs.. but how do I get them to play on a standalone divx player? I tried putting that muxed AVI file onto data cd and then playing it, and it won't even play it... first time my standalone hasn't played something!

I don't really like watching movies on my computer, so does anyone know of a solution? or can think of something to try? Thanks

Never mind guys I found out how to do it using vitruadub and a plugin... converting the .srt with another program and then having to make the AVI file again... long and involved, but might be worth it in the end... will make a tutorial on this too at some point if anyone's interested in it?

If anyone knows of a better, less involved or quicker way of doing this let me know, thanks

I think dvdsanta will let you do it....but you will prolly get better video quality with V-Dub.

Yeah, the quality came out pretty good

Took about the same time to convert as it would have to watch the movie... it's FFVII by the way.. that's why I needed the subs, LOL.

Anyway, pretty simple to do really, you just have to remember to choose compression, because if not you'd end up with a movie around 1 hr long (1st part) and weighing in at a hefty 60+GB... so that got deleted needless to say, LOL... then did it again and chose XVID, this time it came out smaller filesize than original XVID (original 700MB and re-done with subs around 520MB)..

Anyway, will do a little tutorial on this... just easy one, not too in depth so that it's easy to follow

Or use vobsub.. I think it comes with AutoGK, have a look in the downloads section or google for it if you haven't access to downloads yet.
