Probably not enough space on disk. My guess is if you captured if from a digital camera, it's dv-avi or uncompressed avi. How big is the avi file you are trying to burn? You need to convert it to DVD format, just burning a video file to disc won't allow it to play in a normal DVD player. DVD format= Video TS files like bup, ifo, vob's etc. There are several programs which will do that, Nerovision and Winavi just to name a few.

+R or -R disks? I've had issues with +R's not having that extra little bit of space.

ok heres what i did. edit the captured video on Sony Vegas and rendered it. The rendered file is 301MB, i add this file to Nero Vision and it makes the disc full(but says theres enough space) but when I try to burn it theres not enough space.

I know you said convert the file into dvd format(video and audio _ts), but can i make it into dvd format AND have chapters? I need chapters.

Please help I need this done SOON. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, you can set the chapter options in Nerovision. I don't use it anymore, here's the guide I used back when I did long ago.

To Convert AVI to DVD with Nero Vision 4 (basic guide)

If the video is too big to fit on a DVD-5, you can use Nero Recode or DVDShrink to shrink it down to fit on a single layer disc, then just burn a video DVD and drag and drop the Video TS folder into Nero, make sure no multisession is checked and burn at 4x or 8x.

Cool, glad it worked out for ya. The size has nothing to do with the chapters, I think you were getting that message because the resulting files were over the limit of what can fit on a single layer DVD. I could be wrong, but I don't know why else you'd be getting that message, unless Nero is just being buggy.

Yea i dunno, nero seems kinda weird on my comp. I tried adding a vid file and creating chapters but it gets REALLY slow and laggy and its like impossible to do anything. You know any other way i can automaticly make chapters AND make my own chapters too?

TIA!

Just about any conversion to DVD program has the option to set your own chapters. The problem is, there aren't a ton of programs which support a wide variety of video file inputs and convert them to DVD. Nerovision and Winavi are all the ones I know for Windows. If it's a Divx/XviD file, then you can use ConvertxtoDVD, it's by far the best app I've used for converting DivX/XviD to DVD.
