Subtitles

Is there a way to get rid of subtitles once they have been put in a movie? I have a mkv 720p movie file that has subs. It's not an external sub file. The subs are actually in the movie file itself. When I play the movie in WMP Classic, DirectVobSub and Haali Medi Splitter appears in my task bar, and there is an option to turn subs off. So I'm figuring that there must be a way to burn the movie to a DVD without the subs. Just not sure which program. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

if the subs are hardcoded in then they're in there for good as far as I know. Most "releases" that have them hardcoded, like some R5's will either end up being re released in a cropped form at one point or another...which really pisses off people cause the AR will be off a bit when you watch it.

I've never really tried to remove those types of subs though,so there might be a way...good luck though.

Thanks punqewe. I actually used Convertxtodvd and there is an option to exclude all internal subtitle streams. Worked like a charm. I burned it to a DL disc. But, the DVD did not work in my standard player. Yet, when I popped it into the PS3, it worked. A friend of mine is moving, and this weekend he brought over his 40" 1080P LCD television and PS3 for a gaming night. He decided to leave it here while he packed and moved this next week and a half. So I've been experimenting with using different types of media. I have to see things to believe them. I really wanted to believe that a 8.5GB 1080P release was actually going to be full 1080P resolution in a large screen television by some magic encoding process. But, as there is no Santa, I came to the harsh realization that a 1080P rip is not really 1080P. That's just the source. I also gave Tversity a try, per recommendation from Kam. The PS3 only streamed low quality AVI's. Not higher definition mkv's. But Kam had told me that already.

Anyway, back on topic......Convertxtodvd works great for eliminating subs when burning.
