Strange burning problem

I download a movie that's avi. Looks & plays great on computer, but when converted & put on dvd it's darker. Same thing if I play the vob file. I made a dvd slideshow yesterday & same problem. When I preview the slideshow it's great. Burn it on dvd, or play vob file -- too dark. Can someone please help. Thanks.

What program are you using to convert the avi to dvd? I use ConvertXtoDVD on the highest quality settings and have never experienced anything like you describe. The DVD comes out looking excellent.

Is this happening all with the same movie file? Or is it happening with different movie files?

Its probably your DVD encoder. Uninstall any encoder you have, Nero, PowerDVD, etc. And install k-lite codec pack "Standard". Its DVD encoder, is process thru ffdshow which is like a multi-pass. But im pretty sure that is the issue.

Still the same. I guess I'll reformat in a day or two. My son has been staying with me & maybe he changed something. Thanks for your help.

Im sure its a codec issue, probably one of the codes used to encode is still on the PC. But try this application, to see what codec you have installed.

Free-Codecs.com :: Guides : Checking Installed VIDEO and AUDIO Codecs In Windows XP

Alot of cases, it could just be a the avi codec, divx,xvid,3ivx,ffmpeg, etc. They have an overlay setting, when that is not properly loaded, it will display wrong colors, disorted, etc.

I reformatted --still the same. I can do without the movie, but I need my dvd slideshow. I can't understand how these two look good until I hit the burn button. BTW I went to codec.com & read & did what it said. They all showed up good.
