extracting one animated video clip from an avi file?

Hi, I really want to "take out" a small video clip from an avi file but am not sure how to. It's like kamboodianboi's ice age 2 avatar but only of a different clip from the same film. If someone can help me, that would be very helpful. Thanks.

The easiest way "if you're using XP" would be to use Windows Movie Maker...it comes already installed on XP upon purchase. If for some reason you don't have it installed, you can download it, and a whole family of plug-ins, add-ons, etc...at Microsoft.com

Try Here:

thanks a lot and after playing with movie maker for a git, I figured it out. Thanks again!

btw, is it possible, that I can somehow use that clip as my avatar? But I don't know where to host it, as it is a wmv file. Is there some way I can still host this? thanks.

I use Windows Movie Maker and ImageReady. Windows Movie Maker is to clip the movie and you can export as an AVI then after that you can use ImageReady to transfer into frames then export it as a GIF.
