I am trying to Calibrate the Touch Screen on my DS. But every time I go to Calibrate it the orange boxes just keep going through the Calibration set up.
I took a toothbrush and cleaned the edge of the touch screen where the case of the DS meets. Making sure I got the brushes under the case itself cleaning out any dust. It is still not calibrating to where I get the four orange squares. It just keeps cycling through. Any other ideas of what I can do? Is there any games with a calibration system with it? Maybe that would work. |

When I get home, I'll look at mine and see what the deal with the calibration is. Seems I remember that I had to quit the calibration and never got anything that said it was finished or anything to that nature, but I'll look and see on mine unless someone else posts first.

Well, I was wrong. When after I touch the first red square in the upper left corner, it moves to the bottom right corner. When I touch that one, I get a screen with 4 red squares and the option to "B Cancel" or "A Confirm" On the top it has "X Try Again" After I touch each of the 4 red sqaures, I press A to confirm, it tells me that the screen has been calibrated and then it goes back to the menu.
This is something that I didn't even know about for about a week of owning my ds lite. At least until I went exploring the menu system anyway. It didn't seem to affect playing games because I hadn't calibrated the screen.

That is what mine should do but it just stays on the first part of the test.
It starts at the top left corner then it goes to the bottom right corner then it goes to the center then back up to the top left corner It keeps cycling around that way. I never get a confirm option and it never goes to the four corner part of the test. I don't know what to do. I have cleaned the touch screen around the edges where the case meets the touch screen to make sure no dust is between them but it still doesn't work correctly. I have done some searching and allot of other DS owners have this problem but the only solution that is given is to clean the touch screen around the edges where it meets the case. (Which I have done) This solution seems to work for a few but most still have the same problem after using the above solution. So I guess we are kinda stuck till another solution comes up or I send the DS in to get repaired. Which if that is the case I probably will just buy a new one. I have only had this DS for a year and 3 months. I think Nintendo warranty is only a year so I am sure it is out of warranty already. |

Try calling nintendo and see what they say to do. Can't hurt anything. I'm sure your doing it right. The only thing that I've noticed that will cause it to start over is if you don't touch the red squares in the middle of them.

I thought that could be the problem as well. Thought maybe my stylus was getting wore out. So I used the dull end of a needle making sure I hit the center of the square and no go. Still restarted the test.
I got the cleaning solution from Nintendo in the first place. They said if that doesn't fix the problem then it will need to be sent in for repair. I just thought maybe others had this problem and could give me some other advice on how to correct the problem. Thanks for your input Sadalius. I guess I will live with it. It isnt off all that much but in certain spots it is off a bit. I can tell when ussing the keypad. I will have to hit the letter beside the letter I want to type for it to type the letter I want. This only happens for a few letters on the keypad. |

How long have you had it, maybe you could take it back to where you bought it and exchange it if you don't want to send it in. I don't think I would like it with having to use the keyboard like that myself.

I have had it over a year and there is no way Wal-Mart would exchange it. I was going to get another one anyway. So i will just use the old 1 on games that you dont have to use the Touchscreen/Stylus that much.
