Updated Wii Specs

These specs look impressive. With a good price point and innovative controller, Nintendo may be a factor in the next gen wars. It might not rival the X360 or PS3 in terms of raw processing power, but the price will make it alluring.

Looks like it will do the job for me!

I just want to see some more gameplay and what the end result of the controller will be.

Yeah that's the way I look at it. Madden/Winning Eleven is going to look comparable on all the next gen consoles, the Wii could be the perfect solution for high end graphics on a budget.

I think the pricing will play a big part with the WII. MS has a really good console with the 360. Likewise, Sony will have just as good, dare I say it, or better console with the PS3. Both consoles are, whoever, pricey. Especially if you live in the UK. So I think the WII indeed has a chance with those that want something new, but don't want to break the bank either.

The WII may not be considered next gen in terms of HD resolutions and such, but with its new controller, game developers has an opportunity to make the WII into something very interesting. I do think that it will be the games that make or break the WII though, whether they are any good and take advantage of the new controller. Couple that with the lower price, and they may have somethign that will sell.

Thats just my opinion though...

Very true. The HD thing isn't a big deal. Most middle class folks can't afford a big HDTV. The specs while a little murky, seem to indicate the Wii is two to three times as powerful as the GameCube, which is a very powerful system. It can give the XBox a run for its money in certain areas, and far outclasses the PS2. The games are going to look awesome, no matter what next gen system you have. The mod factor is a big deal for our community. Whichever system is modded first, will swing it for me. Hoping and praying the devil360 deal pans out. I'll find a way to pay for a reliably chipped X360. Since the Wii and X360 are DVD9 format, it's a good bet they'll be modded long before the PS3. I like Nintendo's strategy. They're not taking Sony and MS head on, but rather trying to undercut them with pricing and innovation. TsungTsu would be proud.

Well, the way I see it from a modding point of view, blue ray media isn't available to the general public yet and even if it was, how much would they cost? I can remember when recordable DL's came out. I had seen them as high as 30 us dollars a pop. So I think BD would be more expensive than that (at first). Plus who knows how long it will take to mod a PS3 with blueray anyway. So I think it will be some time before we see a modded PS3. My money is on either the Xbox 360 or the Wii because of their choosen format.

Yep I agree. I've read Blu-ray media is supposed to be comparably priced to DVD-R's, but who knows? By the time Blu-ray burners and media are available, people will happily be backing up X360 and Wii games. Not to mention you'd need a huge HD to backup Blu-ray discs, a DL Blu-ray disc would run you around 50GB's of HD space!

Yeah, I can see it now. A friend asks how many ps3 games you got backed up and I say something like, "Oh, I have 32 games backed up between 4 400 gb hard drives running in a raid array as JBOD". That would be hilarious.

Lol. Yeah I had to bust out the reserve HD to backup my PS3 games. Better enjoy those 5 games you can store at once lol. Imagine the aggravation if a game won't backup correctly for some reason.
