Wii internet connection problem.

Ok I am having trouble connecting to my router when encryption is enabled.

If I turn off the encryption and have the router unlocked the Wii connects fine to it. Once I add an encryption (WPA/PSK) it will not connect. Even when i enter the keypass.

I have my sons PSP connecting through it fine plus a wireless computer in my Sons room that is connected fine when selecting that encryption and using the same keypass as I am trying to use.

I am out of ides on what it could be.

I see in the Wii handbook it says the Wii is compatible with

WPA - PSK (TKIP)
WPA - PSK (AES)

What is (TKIP) and (AES)?

My router is a DI-Link 524

The passkey has 8 characters because my son's PSP seemed to only allow 8 characters to be added as a passkey.

Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

I got it to connect. I had to turn off DHCP on the router and manually set up the IP's on the Wii and it finally connected. Still don't understand why. Must be a bug in the router firmware.

You could probably still use DHCP on the router, but just setup the Wii manually. Mine works fine with my Linksys WRT54G router though with WPA on and everything.

I actually had the Wii manually set. I have all my other computers manually set anyway so it didn't matter that i had to turn off DHCP. The only reason I disabled it is because I came across a thread of someone using the same router as me and someone told them that the security and the DHCP conflicted with each other for some reason. So i just disabled it. All is great now.
