Is this true for the Wii

I was reading recently about some things to modify your Wii. One of these things being that you can rip the iso off of your games and place them on your Wii to load off the drive. This would be amazing to do, if it were true. I would never have to change the disks again

Lets see, Gecko mod lets you play homebrew, and GC games off the SD card, not Wii games. Thats as much info I can splur out right now

I'm no Wii mod expert or anything, but wouldn't the limited size of SD cards make it impractical to play isos off of them? Even with a 16GB SD card you might fit 4 or 5 games tops. Maybe I'm not interpreting your post correctly.

hehe, ls get a wii then you will have something new to learn about :P

As for loading backups off a sd card, no you can't
you can use the sd card to rip your games to but its kinda slow and if you dont have a card bigger than 4 gigs you need rip, empty on to pc then carry on ripping,

At the moment there only one way to play backups is a drive chip, *bows to my wiikey*
Theres a working exploit using zelda but for now it can't let you play backups !!!! just mess about with some homebrew and so on

You can get datels freeloader to play imports safely without the worry about updates but as of the new update from nintendo it wil be blocked same as resigned iso's

So if you want to mod you wii just stick a chip in it

Be safe and play games from you own reigin and stay safe from brickin your wii with updates !!!!

hope some of that helps

Lol, sorry Booboo, the only new system I will be getting is a PS3 at some point.

Interesting stuff though, I didn't know you could rip isos to SD cards. If you could boot them off SD cards, then that would be pretty neat.

I read the Wiikey team is not going to be releasing too many more updates for the Wii, and a lot of people are excited about the Wasabi chip that is in development.

You can install a mod chip like WiiKey, and just run Wii and GC backups using blank DVD-R media.

yeah LS (sorry this is late) but i was refering to loading the games off of the SD card. There was this post about Wii tools on this site I go to, to get my files from and there were lots of hacks for the Wii that these tools did. One of them was to load an ISO to the SD card and to load the game from that. Although, it does sound interesting, I don't think its really possible.

As for modding the Wii, The only mod I have in the Wii is a case mod and an xtra fan on the back. I really dont want to use a chip on the Wii because im afraid it might Brick me.

The Wasabi chip looks to be a real step forward for the Wii drive chips. It boasts a very impressive feature set. Read more here:

Meh.....

well thanks anyway LS. I think I would rather build up my library with the tru copies. Even though backups WOULD be nice. I just dont see the need to do it. that is unless I have kids that like to throw things around.
