Talking Questions on memory compatibility.....

Is there a sight where I can type in what type mother board I have and it will tell me what memory is compatible? What I need to know is do I need high density or low density. from what I read it can make a differance. I know that i want 2 sticks of 1024mb 184pin and 400mhz PC3200, its just the density crap I don't know about. I have a Biostar P4M80-M4, so if any one has any ideas I am all ears. Thanks all. :?:

Send a message via AIM to .:MAG:. Send a message via MSN to .:MAG:.

You can use the Crucial scanner: http://www.crucial.com/.

That'll tell you everything you need.

It doesn't sound like you have an OEM PC (i.e. HP, Dell) from your mobo, but people with OEM PC's should be wary when using the Crucial Scanner. It scanned my Dell Dimension 2400 as capable of holding 2GB's of memory (1GBx2). That makes sense logically as I have two banks of one, but Dell locks my model at 1GB's, and there's no way to change it, maybe outside of some sort of hacked bios, which I ain't worryin about.

I do have an OEM (HP) System, I had to change the mobo out some time ago, most everything else is stock though. Will this effect the scan???? As I said before the biostar site says I can use up to 2 sticks of 1gb (total 2gb) memory I just wonder about the whole density thing.

I'm not sure... best to contact HP and ask I think, they prolly have some sort of real-time help service, that's what I do when I have Dell questions which aren't easily answered.
