Send a message via AIM to .:MAG:. Send a message via MSN to .:MAG:.

I'd recommend trying ImgBurn for DVD9 games.

Also, what method are you using to play your backups...mod chip, Swap Magic, etc?

RW could be the problem also....no type of rewritable is good to use with a ps2.

Are you using DVD+/-RW media (i.e. DVD's), or do you mean you bought a DVD+R/-RW DVD drive to backup games?

i am using a DVD+/- RW DL drive to back up my games but the only discs i have are DVD+R DL i just used Imgburner and it still doesnt work. the first game i have on DVD9 is God Of War 2 so i have never copied a 8.5Gb game before.

i have had my PS2 for about 4 years and it was a christmas present, my dad got it chipped but i dont no what make chip it is, it only says on the back of the PS2 'No Swap' Mod.

thanks

Most likely it's down to your chip not reading DVD-9 backups. The rule of thumb is if the firmware on the chip is upgradeable, it will read DVD-9 backups. If not, then it won't. No way to tell what mod you have from what your described, it could be a no-swap Swap Magic mod. It's not even really a modchip, just alleviates the need for a case mod using Swap Magic. Do you have to use the Swap Magic bootdisc to load burned games?

No, not really. There is a 90% chance it just doesn't support DVD-9 backups. Cheap modchips usually don't. Only a handful of quality PS2 modchips read DVD-9 backups including the DMS 4 Pro SE, Crystal Chip 1.1/2.0, Matrix Infinity Green Dot, and the Ghost 2. You could try burning it to quality DVD+R DL media like Verbatim. I think that'd be a waste personally, the best solution is to find a DVD-5 rip of the game. Usually you can find DVD-5 rips of popular games on torrent trackers and what not, or resize the game yourself. What game is it?

There are guides for both. Resizing the first one is sometimes a struggle, at times it will freeze midway through the game. There are guides for both:

God of War 2:
