Thumbs down Prblems burning xbox games with nero

:-( I bought a SmartXX v3 modchip and successfully intalled it on my xbox( a month or 2 ago). I flashed with evox m8. I tried burning iso's using dvd decrypter but they couldn't play. However, a friend of mine tried to do the same thing (on my dvd's), and it worked perfectly (NBA live 07), i figured that the settings on his dvd decrypter was different but his pc crashed before i could take a look at it,( he had to get a new hd). So now i am stuck... i have no ways of getting games because i dont have an ftp cable and i dont know how to burn with nero, can someone plz PLZ help me with my nero settings before i waste even more dvd-r's. if not nero wat other burning software would u recommend for xbox iso's.

It could be crap isos or DVD's, hard to tell from just that. Make sure your firmware is up to date, check here: http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

Type your make and model DVD drive into the above link and see if your firmware is up-to-date.

Make sure your burner is in DMA mode: http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=7625

Make sure you use quality DVD+/-R's, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Ritek are good. Don't burn above 8x. Try using ImgBurn to burn your Xbox games, get it here: http://download.imgburn.com/SetupImgBurn_2.3.2.0.exe

i think its my burner

i went to the link u showed me and i followed every step
however, my burner was already in DMA mode ("transfer mode" box says DMA if available) but at the box which sais "current transfer mode" it sais "not applicable"(probably because im not burning anything at the moment rite :? Im also positive that my burner is up to date because i got my computer less than a year ago. Also, it cannot be the dvd's because my when my friend burned the them they worked.(mine) I downloaded IMGBurn, it looks almost exact as DVD decrypter, do u know if i have to change any of the settings in order to be able to burn xbox iso's.:?:

ps: tnx for taking the time to help me out man, i appreciate it

It doesn't matter if your computer is less than a year old, there should have been a firmware update for your burner already. It also is irrelevant that that the games burned on your friends PC worked, that could also be down to a firmware issue, i.e. his firmware is compatible with the DiscID of the discs you used, or his burner has better better compatibility with your disc-type period. It could be a hardware issue, but you failed to eliminate simple causes first. It's best to eliminate the most likely things first, hardware failure is always the least likely cause imo.

firmware site

i checked if my burner is up to date and i couldnt find a better one.(i didnt use the cite) i have an LG HL-DT-ST GSA-4167B and my version is 5.1.2535.0 . However, i think something is wrong with it because when i checked if it is in in DMA mode it said "dma if available" under transfer mode, but under Current Transfer Mode it said Not Applicable, on my friends pc(the one that made the successfull games) said something else like ultra DMA mode 2 or something. How do i change my burner into something like that.

It could be a hardware issue, the best way to check would be to take a handful of games that wouldn't work on yours and burn them on your friends PC. That's a bit of a pain, but it's the easiest way to check, unless you can borrow someones burner and hook it up to your PC for a test run. Worst case scenario, you can get decent DVD burners starting at around $30 on newegg.
