Computer Cooling Solution

I need some suggestions and links for anything that can make my PC much cooler. Right now it peaks at 55C, and idles at 37C. Thats not too good compared to my previous one. Running E6700 Core 2 Duo is really heating up, and this is still stock, no overclock done. My current CPU fan is a 3600RPM, 27.5 CPM. I have 2 GPU cooling fans in already for my 8800GTS, but that is always 45-50C, regaurdless. Motherboard temp is 27C.

I just need something for the CPU; I plan on overclocking it up to 4Ghz+.

I want my CPU to idle at 27C if possible. Dont really care about price range for the stuff, just need a solution.

thats about what the machine i run right now runs at [32-36] and mine peaks at about 45-48. So you're about average right now.....I dunno what the core dou's are supossed to run at though,as I don't run intel because I well....don't like intel for [ironicly] their heat issues.

My best bet is if you haven't already, get a better heatsink.fan and make sure your airflow is good. Intake and outakes.

I don't know if you considered water cooling, but here is an article on it.

It mentions something interesting about overclocking:

So, if you have heat problems and want to overclock, you should look into watercooling.

You know, I went back to read more about the article and they ask you to register and blah blah blah... I hate that... so I printed the article into a PDF for you (still keeping the authors name in it )

I did try water cooling back then, liked the idea, but didn't liked the style. With water cooling, I run at low 30C highest peak is 38C when playing games.

**
I added 2x120mm fans running at 2000RPM, pushing 75CFM, and now the CPU is alot cooler now. I overclocked the CPU to 235Mhz bus, making the CPU at 3.76Ghz. I would push it higher, but it had some issues, like loading problem, that was at 250Mhz (4Ghz). Overall, the idle temp is 35-38 now. Not bad

Hmm I know you probably thought about this already but possibly new case fans with a higher CPM? Possibly even a PCI slot fan cooler. Are you sure you can push out 4Ghz from 2.66?!

EDIT: I posted this right after you must have posted those pics. Won't this really put a damper on the cpu life?

Hmm, for my computer to be built I have 2 fans(80mm) in the front, and one 120mm fan in the back and one in the side panel. I am not sure how they are setup but I'd imagine the back fan is exhaust, two front ones intake and side one exhaust as well? Any changes for better cooling perhaps? Sorry for the hijack, just a quick question for me.

Also, in cpuz why does it say E6600 if you have an E6700?

Yeah, I know I got dupped. I didn't pay much attention when I got the order. Waste of $50 differences. Its all good.

Depending on your CPU, there are different ways to keep it cool. My previous computer is a Pent D dual core 9xx, which is alot cooler than this E6600 (:evil, but speed wise and processing it doesn't compare. I dont like to overclock, simply of the stress it puts on the CPU, but its a Core 2 Duo
