weird mother board

i got another mo-bo with my computer when i got it.now this board is made to suit an intel P4 processor but the weird part is it takes SD Ram.have any of you heard of this before.I asked at the local computer store and he said its just weird cause all the boards hes got run DDR.if you have any comments on this post them.

1 decent phone.alot of old computer parts.will have a new computer soon and consider playstation 3,xbox360 or nintendo wII

nah the board says UD ram on it where the ram slots are and it takes sdram.not 100% sure what processor it takes think its a P4 anyway.

if I remember,there used to be older ram like PC100 and PC133 that was sdram...that was awhile ago though. How old is this mobo?

as far as i remember the very first p4 bords used SD, is your processor a 478 slot or LGA775 slot.

Some of the early P4 boards actually used SDRAM. Here is a link to one that came to mind by ASUS that actually ran a P4 processor and supported PC100/133 or SDRAM. So thats not such a weird thing really. Although most boards with Intel chipsets that ran a P4 used RAMBUS SDRAM or RDRAM. RAMBUS was made specifically for the P4 because the PC100/133 wasn't cutting it to keep things running smoothley. The problem with Rambus ram was that is was too expensive (because Rambus would not allow other companies to mass produce it), hardly anyone bought into it so they moved to other solutions like DDR and DDR2.

try that, go use the memory advisor tool and enter the motherboard and it should tell you exactly what you need.
