Help, hard drive partitions problems

I am unable to delete 2 hard drive partitions which i am not using. The partitions arent even in "My Computer". When i try to delete them it says that i should reopen the window or restart the computer because it is unable to delete the partition. However, there is another problem, one of the particions is unalocated (not sure what it means) but i cant delete or format it. I also cant format the other partition which is not used (but it doesnt say unallocated on it), i can only delete it.... So What should i do, i want to get rid of the 2 unused partitions and make a new one with the same size.

Have you tried using GNome partition editor. Because removing partition while windows is loaded, isn't possible. Unallocated, means that its not being used, but is there to be used.
