You didn't hook it correctly. You have to hook up the line out to the Computer Line in. There should be a double male 3.5mm connector that came with it, and thats what it is for. When using the DVR, to watch TV, you must select line in as the audio feed.

hmm i dont have that option using the default software. I only have a line out option. In all honesty, I couldnt even find where to hook up the connection from the tuner card to to the integrated audio....so I read around and saw someone got t working by hooking it up to the cd drive....that was the only connection I could find that would accept the connector.

Im still learning, not sure where the hell to look as far as the integrated audio goes....I searched in the comp for a while and for the love of god couldnt find the connection.

Should I try different software also? If so, which?

All computer have a line in, line out, mic in. The specs of the TV tuner states that there is a audio out. What you need to do, is hook the line out from the TV tuner to the computer Line in. And switch the audio input through the windows sound control. Best software to use for TV tuners is WinDVR.

Here's some info which might help: HP Pavilion a1710n Desktop PC: Manuals

Setup and install HP Pavilion a1710n Desktop PC

HP Pavilion a1710n Desktop PC

That last link basically is the home for your PC on HP's official site, I'm sure the info you want is in there. Worst case scenario, ask the HP live help people. Dell's live help people have done a pretty decent job helping me in the past.

Still cant get it to work correctly, have no idea in hell what the line-in on the mobo looks like. Nothing I see accepts the connection....do I need to unplug an existing connection first?
