I have my dads older model Compaq Presario 5300US and Ive done OS's before, but this one is giving me too much trouble. I need help! Ok, so I loaded the OS in, it starts fine. I wiped the old stuff clean, and I install the New one in and when its almost the, the computer Turns itself down! I did this about 4-5 times now with the same result. Please give any advice anyone has. Im trying to have this done ASAP for someone. Please Help

If you did a full format and reinstall, then that sounds more like a hardware issue with the power supply, or perhaps some overheating issues.
