LCD Monitor Query

So I was thinking of getting a nice flatscreen LCD monitor. The kicker is, primarily I want to run my Xbox with XBMC hooked up to it. Say I get something like this: Newegg.com - Acer AL2216Wbd Black 22" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor with HDCP support 300 cd/m2 700:1 - Retail

Now that says it has dvi inputs. How would I work out hooking my Xbox up to that? For that model, it looks it would be easier to run standard VGA cables. So in that case, could I hook up VGA cables from my Xbox 1 to the monitor, or would I need some type of adapter?

LS, there is no real advantage to using DVI for the xbox, because you would need to use a VGA to DVI adapter which still uses analog, so in short...use the VGA cables

Okay thanks man. Can I hook the VGA cables straight from the Xbox 1 to the monitor?

Okay, thanks for the info. What I'm confused on is whether I need an adapter to connect the Xbox component cables into, then run them into the VGA. I'm 98% sure you do, I found this article. Xbox VGA HOWTO - Xbox-Linux

It mentions this thing: Neoya X2VGA 2 Home

I think that's pointless for me, as XBMC can upscale stuff to HD on its own. I think what I need is a composite cable to VGA adapter. Someone please lemme know if I'm in the neighborhood here.

yeah sorry for not being clear on that, i forgot that xbox uses composite....

you WILL need an adapter, or just search for a monitor that has composite, which to me seems like a better suggestion.

Yeah that might work, the damn adapters are expensive. I may just save my money, not worried about it too much after doing a bit of searching tbh.

Just as a side note, the contrast ratio really sucks 700:1. Not much of a true color there. I recommend something with 1000:1 or even 3000:1 contrast ratio.
