So what do I need to do this? I have this tv Buy the Magnavox 32" LCD HDTV and other LCD & Plasma TVs at circuitcity.com and am going through a cable box (hdmi) but I can also use component if needed (dont think that is relevant). I am pretty sure I can't get true surround sound, but no matter what it will sound better then my tv's speakers.
Any ideas on what I need to make this happen?

You wont like this answer, but... the X-530 isn't made for the TV. The only reasonable way to hook it up to the TV, is through the standard stereo plug. And I tried it with my TV, so yeah...

If you want to fake it, then just hook up each speaker to the TV directly.
Here is a pic of my X-540; http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/7602/dsc01014jm4.jpg See how it have the RCA cables for audio. Each speaker has its own, you can hook that to the TV, only down part is that there is not sub to be hooked up.

Thanks for that kam, I found a solution also! I was looking through all my junk, and found this
I can hook the yellow, green and black from the system to that and the Red and white from the component connection, seems to work alright! Sub woofer works also! edit Hmm....kind of a pain! I can in no way control the volume unless I adjust it on the speaker itself....I see this getting annoying very quickly! Turn off the tv and audio continues lol.....maybe it would be best to purchase a dedicated surround sound player.

The X-540 has a wired remote. It also has a Matrix Mode built in which simulates 5.1 sound. Aside from that, it's identical hardware-wise to the 530. For my setup, the volume control is right next to my PC, which is not a problem. For under a $100, it's pretty tough to top the sound quality imo. I'd suggest you just bear with adjusting the sound manually, unless having a surround system with remote is a necessity. I guess it depends on your setup really. My X-530 runs to my Xbox, and I just adjust the volume in XBMC if stuff is too loud. Conversely you can use the volume amplification through XBMC if the volume is too low and you don't want to get up and adjust it.

Really annoying. I can turn the sound off if I turn off my cable box, but besides that I have no control. Beyond that, it sucks that I need to waste a component connection to run the system. I think I will just use it for my 360 and when I feel the need to use XBMC, too much of a burden for typical tv watching. Not for the lazy!

Lol, laziness is never a good thing. When you were running it through XBMC Stang, did you notice any hissback/feedback in your component cables? Mine has some feedback through component cables, it doesn't seem to have any through composite cables, so most likely the component cables I got for Xbox 1 are slightly defective. Basically do you hear anything like when XBMC is idle, almost like a radio trying to pickup a signal?

Havent tried it on anything besides the cable box. Are you using the same accessory I am using? Through the box it sounds great, no complaints. Getting up and manually adjusting the volume every time a commercial comes on or each time I change the channel on the other hand...

I'm using the Xbox 1 component cables with XBMC upscaled to 720p. I tried different component ins on my TV, composite cables, and the feedback went away when I hooked up my Xbox with composite cables, which most likely means it's a faulty component cable. If it's not too much trouble, could you hook up your Xbox 1 component cables to your X-530 through the console adapter and see if there's any feedback? If that's too much trouble, I understand.
