noise coming from PC

there i a loud noise coming from my PC. It only does it when i run 3 or 4 big programs such as itunes. I bought 2 Gigs of ram that my motherboard didnt support. The sticks run at 800 Mhz and my MB doesnt support that. I didnt read if it supported it so i put them on and then it just started making this loud noise. I took them off and put the other stick i had. The noise only happens sometimes now when i run lots of programs. Do you guys know what it could be?

The clicking could be related to the or a hdd in your system. Usually that happens if a hdd is going bad.

It's had to imagine buzzing from a PC but humming is common through fans if they are working hard or maybe even a hard drive.

Kind of hard to diagnose but aside from what I mentioned, could be a mix of things.

Maybe not, but the fans working harder when a significant number of programs are being used can be common, since the hdds work harder. You did mention clicking and that would make me think hard drive issue, especially since it only happens when you run a lot of programs.

Clicking hard drives are not a good sign if that is the case. Usually, it is a sign of the bearings being off which is caused by normal wear and tear.

I recommend you backup any information on that hard drive immediately. For WIndows 2000 or XP, restart your computer and hold down the Ctrl key while it's booting up. When you see the option to start your system in Safe Mode, select it and continue. Click the Start button, then click Run, then type CHKDSK C: /F /R then press Enter. The /R option tells CHKDSK to scan for bad disk sectors, and the /F option means to fix any errors found. TO do the same thing on a Windows 98 system, use the SCANDISK command instead of CHKDSK.)

If you're using Vista, there is usually a pop up that informs you a hard rive is not stable.

The noise is only buzzing. Sorry i thought i heard some clicking but thats not the case. I did what tech told me to do and there are no probs with the hard drive. I think it is only a fan problem

Well, if you think it's a fan, I say trial and error your fans one by one. Power down your system, disconnect all but one fan, power up...see if it is that fan making the noise. Repeat those steps until you've found the culprit or you've gone through all the fans.

Make sure ot run programs each time, I thought you mentioned something about the more programs being used...the more you heard it. See where that takes you.
