Anothe Odd Issue

Ok, so i figured i would get another 2GB of RAM for the PC. Bought it, installed it, and everything in system manager and CPU-Z is showing right. Computer is running just fine. And it is the exact same memory that i bought when i built it and put in the first 2GB.

The issue is that the only game i play on PC, Tiger Woods 07, is now sort of glitchy all of a sudden. Both in the swing and when you do a fly by of where the ball would land if you hit it right. It is not super bad, just enough to be annoying. Before installing the RAM it ran smooth as butter, and i though the added RAM would only help that.

So any idea what could cause this to happen? I do have the PC overclocked but only a small amount (CPU from 2.13 to 2.4). Is that a possible cause? I just don't get it, everything else is running great.

The thing about windows is that when running more than 4GB, it becomes unstable. I know its weird, but true. Alot of applications are made to read 3GB max, but using 4GB will register as 3.5GB.

Best thing is to leave it at 2GB. Unless your running 64bit. A good example, is running sound recorder, it will come up with an error when using more than 2GB.

OK, i may just take the other 2GB out and store them, it does not seem to run that much faster anyway, and yes. Windows shows 3.5GB while CPU-Z shows like 4096 or something. I will save them for if i even have one go bad. Wish i would have known that before i bought them, LOL
Thanks Kam.

Did you get it from crucial steimy? If so they will take it back without hesitation.

It is Crucial, but i got it on Newegg where i usually purchase everything. I just took out one of the 1GB sticks today, and although the "fly buy" still has a slight glitch the swing is fine which is all that matters really. So i will just hang on to the other i guess, in case i ever need it. Shame that you can't get the most out of your PC, mine has an 8GB limit and i can't really even use it, not that i need it.

Oh well, off to play GTA

Yeah I'm only really looking at 2GB's for my new build. There's not much, the max XP can handle is 2.5 or 3GB's, Vista can at least do 4, of course I will never install Vista lol.

vista/xp 32 bit will see a maximum of anything between 3.2 and 3.5 Gb
wheras Vista 64, and presumably XP 64 for that matter, can see anything upto and including (from what i understand) 64Gb, not that many motherboards suport that much ram quite yet...
