OMG Blue Screen has showed up HELP!

So I'm on youtube and the my screen goes blue and starts dumping my physical memory. This is the first time it has happened to me and I want it to be the last. I was literally shaking. There was a stop error code - 0x00000024. ANd it had NTFS file system up there as well. I am so scared.

BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) is bound to happen on Windows XP/Vista regardless on how perfect you want it to be. I get it like once or twice a month. The reason for BSOD, is that a process has become unstable, and conflicted with the OS process, thus causing it to dump and BSOD. If you update to the latest service pack, it can reduce the possibility for BSODing

BSOD is nothing really. If you do get a BSOD, just restart. Everything should be fine. You should be worried only if you get a BSOD before it loads window.

The reason why you should fear the BSOD before windows load is that, it can be a driver issue, hardware issue. If its a driver issue, there is no way of fixing it, unless you do a repair install of windows or a fresh install. If its a hardware issue, just remove the hardware you putted in, and the BSOD should be gone, if not. Then its probably a driver for that hardware.

Sometime, when you OC to high, that the system cant give a stable output, it will cause windows to BSOD.

Almost every time I have had the BSOD it has been a RAM problem, but I knew it was a RAM problem because I also used to get CRC errors all the time when unpacking or packing archives.... That's basically how I check what the problem is when I get a BSOD, run a few archives to see how they go. If they get errors then I check the RAM, if they don't get errors and yet I still get the BSOD, then I re-install windows to check if it was a driver issue or something.

Yeah if you get the BSOD all the time at stock settings then something is amiss. I got it a ton from overclocking attempts. Common reasons might be having more than one Anti-Virus or Firewall installed. Like kam said, most times it's going to be defective hardware or a driver issue if you get it before boot. If you only get it once awhile, I wouldn't be too concerned. Most times fixing it is as simple as uninstalling or updating a driver or uninstalling a recent piece of software or hardware.
