Fat or Skinny PS2 for HD Connectivity?

So which would be a wiser decision? TM has a v7 PS2 and a v12 that I can get. I know that HD connect does not have cooling fans for the HDD. The Fat PS2's have that feature. The Fat PS2 would be slightly cheaper because I already have a network adapter, so TM would just have to chip it and send it on its way, right?

Any thoughts on which one I should get, being that I have the choice?

Thanks

Definitely the fat ones, slim PS2's are just made with inferior parts, my personal feeling is that's why there were so many horror stories when the v12's first emerged, especially in the mod scene. From v4 PS2's and later, quality steadily declined in the parts Sony used. V7's are pretty good quality, V9's and later is where the quality kinda dropped off imo. So given the price point and better reliability, v7 all the way imo.

Fat or Skinny PS2 for HD Connectivity? Black

Hi black

The chunky PS2s everytime, the flimsy PS2 not only looks tacky, but i have known a few of my friends that have experienced big problems with them??? i would not even think of trying to waste my valuable time????

My PS2 is chipped with the Matrix Infinity, and i also have a Maxtor 200 gig drive in it??? never had nay probs yet

Western Digital HD's won't fit snugly in the bay, you'll have to cut out a portion of the case for them to fit correctly, aside from that, most IDE HD's should work fine.

Yahoo! Got my PS2 in the mail yesterday. Started configuring it last night. Followed the ToxicOS instructions and everything worked like a charm. Even tested a couple of games. Played my backup of Raystorm for psx perfectly. Upped Burnout Dominator to the HDD and it played perfectly. The HDD is silent. Not a single sound. Loving it!! Now I just have to read more about what I can do in ToxicOS. Maybe I'll eventually get around to playing a game or two seriously ;-)

Cool man, that really is the ultimate way to play the PS2, with a HD and a DMS 4 Pro SE. The ability to be totally discless with the PS2 is sweet. I'm so used to it with the Xbox 1 that I almost have forgotten what's it's like to use discs, except with 360. Congrats!

I have only found a few games so far that i can say did not work.
Hotshots Golf Four!
Fast & The Furious Tokyo Drift (will work but randomly lock up. Thought it was just me but my friends does the same thing)
And he tells me MLB 07 did not work.

other than that i put a ton of games on it and had not played them all to confirm it. I think i have about 70GB left on my 250GB drive, Great if you travel. Only have to carry the PS2 unit itself.
