Backup PS2 games doesn't work.

Hey guys, I burned God Of War 2 into 2 DVD 5's cause my PS2 doesn't play DVD9. Its modded to play burned games and PSX games but It doesn't seem to play GOW :-( I tried to play burned CD's with the SNES games i've burned before, seemed to work perfectly. It was a CD though not a DVD, don't think it matters though. I burned the GOW using nero, using imageburn. I did the PS2 shrink thing with ExPERT. Hope you guys can help me out. Thanks.

What kind of mod do you have? Are you using Swap Magic, Breaker Pro, an exploit, what? It sounds like A. You don't have Swap Magic DVD, or B. you have Breaker Pro.

Swap Magic comes with a DVD and a CD, to load DVD-ROM and CD-ROM games accordingly. Use the DVD for DVD-ROM games and CD for CD-ROM games. Swap Magic CD won't work for DVD games, just Swap Magic DVD.

Breaker Pro is a boot disc which enables users to play burned PSX games on a PS2/PSX.

Reading your post, it sounds like you only have Swap Magic CD, or maybe even the Ulimate Swap Disc thing, which is not Swap Magic and incapable of loading games over 700MB's.

That's the Ultimate Swap Thing. It blows and is not nearly as good as Swap Magic. I've never been a big Swap Magic fan, but it does work reliably.

Nah, my PS2 is upgraded with some sort of modchip that allows me to play burned CDs but I'm not sure about DVDs cause this is the first time I've tried burning games on DVD.

Do you have any idea what modchip you have? Just about any modchip will allow for the user to play burned DVD games. Since this is the first time you've tried burning a DVD game, make sure you're using quality media. Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Ritek are recommended for PS2 backups.

Did you rip it yourself? If so, I can pretty much gurantee it was done incorrectly, and therefore wont boot. Since you only used Xpert it is apparent that you did not rip the game correctly. Ripping GoW IS NOT as easy as what you did. Take into consideration what LS has said and please do tell what exactly you did with respect to GoW2.

Hy, I'm in the same problem, but not with GOW II, with the first part, and the other games i downloaded from the internet with P2P program(5 games) :-(. I have a modchiped PS2 slim(with modbo 760), I tried to burn the images(.iso files) with NERO n' DVD Decrypter, but it's not working. What should I do please help.(they told me the chip supports both PAL & NTSC games, so it can't be the format problem)

What's the Media ID of the discs you're using?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

Could just be a bad burn. Those TDK's are probably CMC Mag, TDK stopped making their own TTH0x media ID discs over a year ago. Try burning again at 4x or 8x. If that doesn't work, maybe try some different media. As always, make sure your burner is in DMA mode and your firmware is up to date. Type in your make and model in the download search and make sure it's up to date. If not, follow the instructions for updating firmware on your make and model DVD writer.

OK, so you're used to making backups I assume because you mentioned

why are you rebuilding the game ISO if it's a downloaded one? it should already be a DVD-5 in most cases, so you'd only have to go into IMGburn/Nero or whatever burning program select similar to "burn image to disc" select the image file (ISO) that you downloaded and burn it on good media. If you'#re rebuilding because you got the game files instead of an ISO, then my guess is that you unpacked the archive too many times (so in effect you unpacked the ISO)
Just trying to figure out why you're rebuilding the game really???
