Game loading probs are more indicative of the way the game is programmed, rather than media or laser issues. Some games will just load quicker than others. As always make sure you're using quality media and clean the laser with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol if the problem persists.

LS, have you tried VC stories?
You know me, Verb dvd-r burnt at 4x so its not a media prob. But it takes FOREVER to load, makes me not even want to play it

Some people still claim to this day that GTA games work better on +R's AR. I've never verified it personally (my backups work fine either + or -), but I think Hursty used to say that with San Andreas. If he says it, then it's defintiely worth a shot imo. Also, crank the burn speed up to 8x. San Andreas is a constant disc access game, 8x is really the way to go there. In my experience burning quality DVD-5 media at 8x doesn't affect burn quality at all on newer CD/DVD drives. I can't remember the last time I burned a DVD-5 game at 4x tbh.

My copy worked fine at 8x on Yuden000T02. I got a bit of lag on Ritek's at 2x and 4x, but to be fair that was on an ancient external burner with out of date firmware, and likely wasn't anything to do with media. In your case Mac, I think the prob could be hardware related, in AR's case burning faster may well resolve the issue.

Yeah that will happen, my personal opinion is burning DVD-5 at media below 8x is arachaic, with quality 8x or 16x media and a newer burner, crank it up to 8x and forget about it.
