In all honesty, I think it's related to the DMS 4 EZI chip man. That thing works best if soldered in. It could be an overheating issue, you're using some kinda USB fan mod as I recall. With all the issues you've had, it would be less headache to save up some money and get a premod from http://www/teammodders.com You can get a good solder chip like the DMS 4 Pro SE, Matrix Infinity, or Crystal Chip 2.0 premod for around $200. That's a good price, and with a professional solder job, you won't have probs.

no its not a good price i can solder myself i have use the matrix chips b4. its easy as hell and im not spending money on a 3rd ps2 your crazy. and its not overheating because its cold as hell and i can play non backup copies no problem. its just the backup copies. but i just remembered something... when i put the v7 ps2 together there was a small plastic sheet that was supposed to go between the powersupply and the steel ground plate. I forgot to put that back in and i think i threw it away.. :\ But i dont think that has anything to do with it because i have been able to use it for over a week now then yesterday it started this crap.

As for the fan its VERY powerful because of the type of fan im using and nothing gets hot on it.

Yes, but the PS2 is meant to be cooled internally, if your USB fan is mounted externally, it won't necessarily provide the same air flow. The PS2 doesn't have a huge problem with overheating, it doesn't run real hot to begin with, say like a 360. The constant freezing and black screens are most likely the sign of a bad install or overheating issues.

HAHAH ohh wait you think i have it mounted EXTERNALLY. no no no no. What i did was splice a small fan small enough for the fan slot with a usb cable. I cut a slot in the ps2 so that the cable could run across the inside and come out through the hole i cut. If i had a working camera i would take a picture and show you guys.......and i did figure out what was happening....are you ready for this

I had my window shade open and the sun was beating down DIRECTLY on my PS2 and it was getting HOT!!!!!! So i shut my window and it worked fine. Now ain't that some ****. hahah
