but imho the answer is in the question? can you run a backed up disc to swap for another backedup disc so if it would work you wouldnt need swap magic at all would you, but buy swap magic its the best thing you can buy unless you want a modchip but these days unless its you only main console theres reallt no point i cant remember last time i got my ps2 out

Yep, as above have answered. you'd need something else to be able to boot that backup version of swap magic.. so worthless really.

And yeah, the only time I've even used my PS2 in the last 5/6 months (since I've had an xbox) is for stuff I can't get on the xbox, like god of war 2.. and even that I haven't played much because it's such a bother having to set up the PS2 etc just to play that one game
