Opening Ports for online play

Well, I patched Burnout Revenge and I'm trying to get online. I created an account on the EA server. I am able to log in and connect to the network, but I get the message "Port 3658 is not open in your firewall. While you can go online, this may prevent you from connecting to other players....."

I opened the ports in my router the same way I do for torrents.

But it doesn't work. I used a utility called "Roadkil's ScanPort" to see if the port was actually open. It's not according to this program:

Any suggestions????

Send a message via AIM to theridges

make sure your computers ip is 192.168.1.100 because your utorrent port forward is on another ip 102..
so check to see what your computer is, this is probably an easy fix..
and i would just forward that exact port...not from 500 to 700

Yeah, it's at 100. The other ports are there because my router needs reseting once in a while and because it's DCHP, my PC gets a new address each time. But yes, the latest one is 100.

Trying the exact port is not a bad idea, and setting up a static IP may also help. That's what I'd try anyway. Here's a guide:

Are you using a firewall on your pc? If so, have you added the port exception in there yet?

@Mag
Yeah, all firewalls turned off. I have the little red shield with a 'x' in it saying that Microshaft "strongly" recommends turning it on :-P

You can turn off Security Center if you don't want to see the stupid red MS symbol, I know I can't stand it.

Go to control panel-->performance and maintainence-->administrative tools-->services doubleclick security center and you can stop it and disable it.

Thanks LS. I've done that in the past, but forgot how to get in there and do it again. I'm tired of having to keep up with everything in Windows. Trying to to remember how to disable all of their junk. Security Center has now been disabled :-)

Well, I finally got through with Burnout Revenge. I did absolutely everything possible to open those ports. I finally obtained the IP address of the PS2 through the router when I booted it up, and opened 2 specific ports for UDP and TCP. When I still got the error message, I just decided to find someone to play. And it worked, despite EA telling me that my ports were not opened and that I will not be able to connect to anyone. I was very happy.....until I got schooled in the game. Are there ways to cheat in PS2 online play? Because those dudes had nitro from the very start. There's no way they could have blasted ahead so fast :-P

glad to see you got it working. hough most sites talk about having to forward ports and such, most fairly new routers do not require it. I have never had to forward a port on mine to make something work right. PLus i am not sure how true this is but people have told me that forwarding ports only works on a static IP and does nothing if you are running DHCP.
