Sure, but I just burned it to Dual Layer disc, worked great with a modchip. Obviously that won't work for Swap Magic.

If i was to copy it to a dual layer disc the first step was to create a iso image using dvd decrypter, alchol 120,nero and then burn it directly to a 8.5 gb disc will this be the way for all ps2 games that are dual layer. please advise

yes, there is really nothing different about how you copy and burn a dual layer disc. What is the main concern is if you can play it.
Swap Magic WILL NOT play a dual layer back up
DMS4 Pro will
Crystal Chip V2.0 will (may require patching with Toxic DL Patcher before burning)
Matrix Infinity will (same as above, may need to patch the ISO)

most other chips will not play a dual layer back up. And chip that is able to play an original dual layer game should be able to play a dual layer back up provided you patch it with Toxic DL Patcher.

There's no need to patch Dual Layer isos with Toxic Dual Layer patcher with the Matrix Infinity, Crystal Chip 2.0, DMS 4 Pro SE, or Ghost 2. I think even the crappy modbos support DL backups, but don't quote me on that. Those chips all patch automatically patch DL games. In a sense, Toxic DL Patcher is pointless. All the good chips incorporated the patcher into their firmware, and older chips don't support DVD-9 backups anyway.

I was given a ps2 how would i check what chip i have installed. i would like to know if it came down to using the toxic dl patcher and if i created a iso using
dvd decrypter which do i patch ? the iso image or the mds file becuse these are the two files created by dvd decrypter and does this patcher really work

You patch the iso. The best way to check is to contact the person who installed the chip. If it's a shady modder (and there a lot), then he may not know or be truthful. In that case your only real option is to take it apart and post a pic or something.
