disk read error

i bought a used old fat ps2 from debay . i have adjusted the lazer and cleaned the lazer and still get DISK READ ERROR.???? if i buy i new lazer will this solve the problem . thx :chef:

Good chance it will. You had a better chance of getting a slim PS2. Because the fat PS2 laser are $30+. While the slim PS2 laser are $10+.

thx .. i got the fat ps2 reaL cheap $18 shipped .strange why the old fat ps2 lazers are more the than slim ones ..can you post a link where there is one for $30.most lazers i have found were over $40

Yeh, the laser that usually $30 are on ebay. Thats another bad thing, lol.

Honestly, I'd avoid eBay for the console itself, a lot of people sell broken, partially-functional consoles there. Your odds of getting a working PS2 second hand from a friend or pawn shop are much higher imo. As far as the laser and PS2 parts, I can't speak to that.

Probably just a busted console man. You could try replacing the laser, the problem is the PS2 may just be shot period. I personally would never recommend anyone buy a console off eBay. At least three people have told me they sell busted consoles on eBay. It's your call, if it were me, I'd cut my losses get a used PS2 second hand from a pawn shop, test it out, and mod it if all works.
