Hey everyone. i know people are having problems with god of war when trying to load it on HDloader but i decided to just burn the dvds and keep them. anyways so i got god of war 2 and i love it and i copied it on my mac using a roxio toast titanium. i am using verbatim DVD+R DL disc. i heard nothing but good comments about verbatim disc so it cant be that. so what happens is that i got up to a certain level in the game and then it freezes. this happened to me with God of War 1 and i never finished the game cuz i didnt know how to fix it. but i really wanna finish number 2. i heard about patches and what not, but i thought those were for putting it on HDL. is there something i need to make this game work? also, i tried searching but i guess the word 'god' is too short and it wouldnt let me search, so i gave it an effort. if someone can help me i would appreciate it!!! thank you!!

There are a couple potential issues. Did you back this up from an original game? If so, I doubt you would have this problem. If you "acquired" an iso floating around, there's no telling how it was patched, if there were read errors during the rip process, if anything was ripped out, etc. The game may have been pre-patched for use with HDL, and that could cause it to freeze off disc. Many release groups are outright incompetent and do not test their uploads much at all. Verbatim media is pretty good, but there are always bad discs floating around, you could run it through CD-DVD Speed and see what the disc surface and quality scans say. Your best to bet is get an original copy, back it up using ImgBurn in read mode, and burn at 2x or 4x to Verbatim DL DVD+R media with ImgBurn in write mode, ideally with a drive that supports book typing/bitsetting. Get Nero CD/DVD Speed here:

the thing is that i didnt download this game. i actually went and rented it then copied it. i do have the image on my harddrive. this was actually my second time burning it cuz i got an error the 1st time. the second time it works (i guess not fully) but it completed. i guess ill just have to reburn and see what happens.
those instructions/programs are really for PC's. is there anything for mac that is as good? |

Yeah there are some threads for burning with Roxio Titanium Toast, which is what most people use for backing up PS2 games on Mac. I didn't see a definitive guide for it, here are some guides which contain information on backing up PS2 games on Mac. It's possible you are burning the game too fast, burn at 2x or 4x on DL media. As always make sure your firmware is up to date. Also, you could run your previous burned copies through CD-DVD Speed, it will at least give you an idea if the discs are crap, or could give you clues that something is going awry in the burning process. Did you get read errors during the rip process?
