From a USB HD, yes with USB Extreme. However, the load times are about the same as playing a game off disc and there are massive compatibility issues. You are better off playing a game from disc. About the only use for USB Extreme is playing PSX isos from a USB HD, that is the only way to play PSX isos off any kind of HD with the PS2.

With a slim, you need HDCombo or HDConnect to play games from a IDE HD. HDCombo and HDConnect are IDE connectors soldered to the PS2 motherboard. You can then attach a IDE HD to the connectors and load games off the HD with HD Loader using some sort of console modification. HDCombo and Connect are only compatible with v12 and 13 slim's. The solder points were removed on v14 PS2's and later. Here's a PS2 version chart.

Yeah you can. I'm not too familiar with USB Advance, but I believe it is similar to Extreme. If you want to boot a burned copy of it, obviously you need some way to boot backups. The same principles apply, but you can try it out if you want. As far as switching games, I imagine there's some sort of dashboard/gui that will allow the user to switch games. I don't know as far as multi-disc games, most likely they would have to allow a save in between discs to be able to complete the game successfully.

Not sure how up to date it is, but this is what google pointed to:

Jaydium - USBeXtreme Compatibility List

Here's a guide for USB Extreme I came across.

PS3NEWS.COM, PS3 NEWS, PS3NEWS, PLAYSTATION 3, PS3, PS2, PSP, XBOX 360, WII, NDS, GAMECUBE

Each number at the top of a page is part of the list. The list is in alphabetical order, starting with the numbers. Click on the different numbers or search for a game to bring up different pages.

What version slimline do you have? Really if you have a V12 or V13 i would get the HD Combo case and go with an internal hard drive. Not only are they cheaper but the load times are better. As far as an (IGR) In Game Reset feature, some chips will have them but i am not sure any program used to load games from a hard drive will. I am pretty sure that my DMS4 Pro doesn't have that feature but i think the last Crystal Chip that came out did, and could run the hard drive.
