Burning PS2 Games ADVICE

Hi guys,
i recently installed swap magic on my 2 years old SLIMLINE PS2,i now i am ready to make some backups copy of my original games.I think i have all the right tools:
- HP Computer with vista
- Dvd Decrpyter
- Dvd burner
- Original game
- Blank Media ???
My real problem is i don't know what media to use i read a lot of information on different type of media but i still can't make a choice,i know that i should probably use dvd+r since my ps2 is fairly new or shoul i ?and Taiyo Yuden for media,
my problem with taiyo yuden is that i reside in edmonton canada and i don't have access to these disc.So i was thinking of using 16x Verbatim Disc (or 8x) .Now the speed of bruning, if i actually use 16x Verbatim is it better to do it at 8X?
Guys i know you get these question a lot and i am sorry but please help me,any other suggestion plz let me know.e.g:
-media (with speed)
-speed
-dvd+/-
Good day

Alot of times, it doesn't really matter of the media, or whether if its +/-R. But there are times it does become picky. Best chances is using -R, cause the whole +R type, is basically for PC, performing multi-session burns.

Brand wise, I've used them all, and they all pretty much works, its just a matter of which one last longer. I use alot of Memorex cause they are cheaper, and usually last long. I burn at max speed, only because I pot tweaked my laser on the PS2. You can do that, but beware, its not as easy as it may seem.

Quality media makes a huge difference for PS2 backups. It's best to use quality media like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. On 16x discs, you should be fine burning at 8x. If you can't find Taiyo Yuden, you should be able to find Verbatim in places like Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. A lot of chain stores carry it. + vs - R doesn't matter as much as the quality of the dyes on the disc.

If you use Memorex, you will likely end up with CMC Mag dyes which are awful. The cheaper the dyes, the more strain the PS2 laser undergoes to read them, the shorter the laser will last. Granted sometimes people have issues with different types of media, but Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are the two media types proven to work across most different setups.

Some good places to buy quality media online are

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

DVD-R,DVD R Media,DVDR Blank Media,DVD R,DVD+R,Dual Layer,Double Layer,Printable DVD,DVD Case,Duplicator,USB Flash Memory,Ink Cartridges

Meritline.com - Online Store Offers CD/DVD Blank Media,Memory,Ink/Toner,Computer Hardware,Electronics,Ipod,CD/DVD Case and more!

I strongly recommend using Verbatim DVD-Rs. When you buy them, go ahead and check the Media Code with DVD Decrypter, and make sure that the Media Code is classified as first class. Make sure to burn at the speeds your burner supports, (mostly 2X and 4X), and I also recommend using either ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter, (mainly ImgBurn because DVD Decrypter is outdated).
