What brand of DVDs to use?

I recently got my Swap Magic, and I'm wondering what kind of brands to use that are widely available in stores.

TDK DVD+RW[1-16x] and Great Quality +RW[4x] don't seem to want to work on my PS2. TDK is a lighter violet and GQ is a darker shade of violet, and I think I need to get something clearer, lighter, like a CDR, and that it should be like all of the other PS2 games that I have...

I'm not sure where to get something like that though. Any ideas? I can probably head to fry's soon and get a new DVD pack. I'm not sure what to get though.
I don't want to waste any more money on dvds that don't work, so, any recommendations?
If not, I'll just go get something online then, but I'm kind of impatient =/ even though it'll give me time to nab more backups from my friend.

Ideas :
How about these? Fuji DVD-R's
FRYS.com*|*FUJI .... (DVD-R)

Thanks in advance.

Depending on how the PS2 laser is potted, it may not read +RW. I had a few PS2, and each have their liking, +R, -R, or both. You should try and buy a 15 pack of -R and test it. Also GQ are very low quality, cause they will peal over time. I dont really care on what brand the CD/DVD disc are, as long they burn and read, its good enough.

You should probably order your media online, preferably Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

Here's an official list of DVD-R/RW media: digitalFAQ.com | Blank DVD Media Quality Guide

I recommend using verbatim DVD-Rs, those are 1st class media. If you use 1st class media to burn games, your PS2's laser will have a longer lifespan. Download DVD Decrypter, this software can tell you the media code of whatever blank media you put in your DVD burner drive. Copy the media code the software shows you, and refer to that website to see where your media code stands. 2nd class media is ok, but it's better to have 1st class media.

It determines your laser's lifespan by a landslide.

Wow... it's like an AD flashback. :P

Verb's or TY's are the way too go. DVD+/-RW's put way too much stress on the PS2 laser and should never be used for PS2 backups.

Ah, thanks again for the help guys!

I decided to get a pack of 50 Memorex DVD+R's, and so far everything's been fine.

I mainly got them because they were on sale at Target, 12.99

If anything goes wrong, I'll probably try Verbatims.

Did you download DVD Decrypter? If so, pop in one of the Memorexes and see if you can find the Media ID.
