I really want a PSP

I've read around the internet and so far I've found out that the PSP can emulate the Playstation at full speed. If I were to buy a brand new Slim PSP from walmart, what would I have to do to be able to play PSP ISOs from the Memory Stick, and as well as emulators? If I wanted to use an 8GB memory stick, would it be a good idearr?

Nah you would have to mod the PSP first... I'll let Stang or PS3ness handle that portion of the post.

I have both slim and phat PSP. And 8GB in each, both plays ISO, but for the sake of my life, I cant get the slim to play PSOne games. I guess the slim one cant load homebrew, only play PSP ISO. But long story short, you will need to get pandora (Period)

Will I need a Pandora if I purchase an older version of the PSP?

What is the Pandora exactly?

You need 2 things:

1)A MMS (magic memory stick). You can make this on your own, google "totalnewbinstaller."

2)A DC 1-5 (Despertar Cementerio version 1-5). This is a pandora for slims. You cannot make this yourself, somebody with a homebrew enabled psp would have to do this. If that is not a possibility, you could either

a) Hard mod your battery (not recommended)

b) Purchase a Datel Utility Battery, its function is to put your psp into service mode.

You can emulate ps1 right now, ps1 emulation is not a product of custom firmware. It is built into the firmware by Sony. Only difference is that you can only play ps1 games offered from the Sony online store while cfw users can convert their own ps1 games to compatible psp eboot's.

MC has a good resource page Pandora's Battery and Despertar Cementerio v3/v4 - Guides, Downloads and Information - MaxConsole Forums

@kam

The slim can do more then the fat, are you using 3.xx kernel homebrew and not 1.5 kernel? Cant use 1.5 kernel homebrew on a slim.

I can run 3.XX homebrew, but majority of the homebrew I have wont run on it. And when I do the PSX thingy, it wont run, just restarts the PSP. So I dont bother no more.
