comcast free mcafee

So i been having mcafee for free because of comcast for years. I just updated to lastest program for mcafee last week. The problem i'm having is that everytime i open up IE brower it takes 5 seconds before it loads. It use to just pop up right away when i clicked it. But after the update it does this everytime. annoys the hack out of me. So i went to system restore. But my question is how can i update mcafee without the lag of IE brower? Because i can not update my virus and all that stuff without the new updated program.

It's probably a conflict or Mcafee's real time scanner scanning the IE executable before it opens. See if you can configure file exceptions for the real time scanner and exclude internet explorer.

I checked my parent's PC with Mcafee and didn't see any options to exclude files from real-time scanning. Either I missed it or Mcafee doesn't have that ability.

SO my choices are to update and live with that horrible 5 second delay every time i open the IE or never update it and get bunch of virus.

I just don't understand why i'm the only person who's annoyed by this. Mcafee should fix this. BTW it's impossible to contact mcafee.

Well might be time to get another AV then. Mcafee is a pretty solid AV, top 5 in nearly all detection reviews, but if it's causing you probs, might want to look into AVG or Nod32, both of which have good free versions available.
