I installed protowall recently. I get about 800 blocks a day. Constant attempts from Sony and Paramount pictures. I open WMP and a packet from Napster gets blocked. I try to visit another site and GoDaddy tries to send out a packet. All day, bots are trying to see what I am doing. Every big corporation - M$, Nintendo, etc....I realize that for the most part it's for research. These companies claim to be able to provide a customer with a better product or service and do this to gather statistics. But I don't like it and I'm glad protowall is blocking it. So if you are curious as to who is trying to get information on your surfing habits, and want to stop it, I would recommend protowall.
Anyway, please provide feedback on your thoughts of ip blocking and privacy. Nothing is fullproof, but ignorance is not always bliss.

If you are really worried about privacy Black use the tor/privoxy combo. Works great.....best of all is free. Yeah it slows down your connection a bit, but does add an extra level of security.
If interested, dl this http://tor.eff.org/dist/vidalia-bund....16-0.0.13.exe then follow the easy directions here Tor: MS Windows Install Instructions Apparently I live in Hungry....wish I was told these things ![]()

Thanks Stang. I may try it on my old PC. See how much it slows me down.

I agree...and I'm almost certain that the GoDaddy packet is coming from my site (purchased domain from them).
