McAfee

I just got a new computer which came with a Vista OS, and few months after i guess my McAfee expired or something. So now some parts of my computer arent safe.

here are some pics.

When i click Update this window pops up

and when i click renew now

it takes me to the website, which i have to pay for it

I just want to know how i can get a full access of the McAfee without paying for it. or whatever you guys suggest. I would appreciate the help.

Thanks.

You either have to renew your subscription or stop using it....Mcafee is not a good AV at all so I would just ditch it. AVG free, Antivir and Avast free are all great free AV's, check them out.

Lol, sorry to break this to you, but all things Mcafee are not great. Both Agnitum and Camodo (Comodo, cant remember the spelling) make great FREE firewalls. I have been using Agnitum's Outpost firwall for a little over a year, it is by far the best I have ever used.

And yeah, once you decide the route you are going to go with regard to AV/firewall, feel free to uninstall that Mcafee junk, unless you plan on renewing of course.

edited for horrible spelling...lol I quit

I gotta disagree on the Mcafee AV. It is a bit needy, but it is updated regularly and is near the top of most AV's as far as detection rate. I installed it on my parent's PC for a year and it had zero problems. It will have more processes running in the background than say Nod32, but it is a quality AV imo.

Tense, you don't really need a top notch software firewall, XP's built in firewall will work fine for most things. You can enable it through Start-->Control Panel-->Security Center-->Windows Firewall. It is no better or worse than most software firewalls, the hardware firewall built into your router/modem is far more important than a software firewall.
