Thumbs down psp screen question

my psp's screen has some dark spot on it(u could still see through it though). U can only notice it on a bright background or if you concentrate on it really hard. SO... my question is where is this dark spot from... the backlight of my psp screen or the screen itself.... It is possible that my psp might have taken some serious hits because i travelled recently and i didn't have a case, also the spot was not there before.:-(:?:

Those are dead pixels, nothing to do about them that I know of. I have a few on my screen, kind of annoying but that is the price I payed for dropping it so many times.

Hey stang,

It is funny, i remember reading some stuff before, that now big companies can sell LCd monitors and other monitors with dead pixels, something about they say that you can have up to three dead pixels on these items, and they are covered in the pricce, however i think that if you are paying good money for a product, you should not have to worry about dead pixels???

When did you first notice this so called dead pixel, on your psp, and you really need to get a hard case for it dude??? if it has just appeared from nowhere, why not give SCEE a call, you never know dude??? if it is still in warranty, they may be able to sort you out? :chef:

Hey SS what's good man? When I bought my lcd monitor the first thing I asked about warranty with respect to dead pixels, I would not accept the monitor without some type of reassurance that I would be covered. Luckily Acer covered the monitor, but it still sucks that a brand new piece of kit (which costs a lot) comes from the factory with dead pixels.

@gvk12345

Sounds like normal wear n' tear to me, you can replace the screen if you wish, not worth the cash unless the dead pixels are hindering your use of the psp.

hi stang

howws things with you man, i am just really enjoying my psp, at the mo, it is a great little bit of kit, it would be even better if it had a similar feature, like the ps3 feature, where you can play music in the background, and also by pressing the PS button on the controller, you can also view a photo slideshow, of course i do not think it possible for the psp, but one never knows, at the moment in time, i have 5 games for my psp, in order of favouritism 1 virtua tennis, 2 def jam fight for new york, 3 burnout legends, lara crroft legend , and lastly world snooker 2005, i bought this for 7.99 gbp on Saturday really really good for the psp ...

take care stang dude :chef:

The sad thing with dead pixels is each different company has their own policy in regards to the warranty that covers them. Some are more than others while others are less. In the case of Sony, I don't remember ever reading a certain number being covered, but I do remember reading a statement that Sony had made specifically about the PSP was that if there was a dead pixel that bothered a customer that much, to contact their support and something would be worked out. That leads me to believe that if you had just one dead pixel and it bothered you that bad, you could have something done about it. Of course if it's out of warranty, you would have to either accept it or replace the screen like Stang said.
