Making use of folders in Rapidshare.de (premium accounts only)

This is just a short tutorial to help people that might be trying to figure out how to do it.. it's not exactly straight forward or easy to understand from their website.

1. Log in to your premium account.

Enter your login an password, then click SSL encrypted login.

2. Now you should be able to see all the files you've uploaded.. at the bottom of the page there is a part that looks like this.

To create a folder, just enter a name in the box provided and then click create new folder

It is now created.. you can see it at the top of your download links (this is where all folders are stored for ease of use)

3. Ok, now to make use of that folder.... provide some information and give it a password if you want to... You don't have to do any of this, so if you like you can skip to part 4

Click on Admin-login button.

Now you can enter some information about yourself.

and a headline

You can also create a sub-folder here if you like... but I find it easier to keep things simple and just have folders on the main page only as it's harder to add the files into a sub-folder.

Similarly, you can also add files here if you like, by entering the url of your file in the box and checking the checkbox like below... as before it's harder to do it this way and very time consuming... go to part 4 for how to do it much quicker and easier.

4. Adding files to your newly created folder..

Highlight the folder ID and then click with left mouse button on the highlighted text.

Select the file or files that you want to add to the folder by checking their checkboxes..

When all the files you want to add have their checkboxes checked.. scroll to the bottom of the page again.. you can now see that the button has a Folder ID - click the button to add the files to that folder.

5. You can now enter the folder you created to see that the files are now hotlinked to that folder.. [note] the files do not actually get moved to that folder, so all your links still work exactly the same..

The benefit of doing the above is if you want people to have access to a big number of files, then instead of giving out each link.. you only have to give them the folder ID url eg. RapidShare Webhosting + Webspace

To add more folders just repeat step 2, to add more files repeat step 4

Hope that clears it up for you

Send a message via AIM to .:MAG:. Send a message via MSN to .:MAG:.

This one is definitely going in my favorites!

Can be quite excruciating without a guide like this.

Nice job paddy!!

Thanks.. yeah I know about frustrating.. I tried like 10 times to create and use RS folders but the info just wasn't there to make it clear.. so that's why I made this, to help out others that might get confused by RS's explanation

I'm not a rapidshare user on regular...far from a Premium Account but nice guide paddymail. I hope you don't mind but a few of the images used were to wide for the module and stretched it. I used this guide:

...for the images that were too large in width.

Right, this may be just me being stupid but why do so many people sign up for premium accounts with Rapidshare, etc.

Do you use it for storing all of your files? (sounds stupid i know) Like Films, Games etc?

If so, do you have to download them every time you want to use them?

I concidered getting a hosting package set up just for storage. Is it worth it? I mean i only have a 40gb harddrive on my laptop and thats 80% full already.

I guess what i'm saying is, does anyone have any input on storage solutions? (besides external HDD's which i've been looking into already)

CHEERS PEEPS! :angle:
