By no means am I an expert on Linux, I've never used it either, but people say that the speed, stability, and ability to have multiple workspaces (basically like multiple windows desktops running at once, each with it's own software and tasks running) are the big selling points. Factor in the vast supply of open-source software, often free-to-try distros and updates, and that there is virtually no malware in the wild for Linux, and the selling points become pretty apparent.

- In short; the performance of Linux on a PC or laptop surpasses Windows on that same system.

- Linux distros (Operating Systems) are not overwhelmed with viruses like Windows

- Customization, would probably be, last but not least, my third reason for the switch.

There is so much more but Performance, Customization, and lack of viruses are KEY w/o question for any O/S. Linux brings that.
